Carried through its font in 1994 by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Marseille-Provence, with the assistance of local authorities (the Regional Council of Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur, the General Council of Bouches-du-Rhône and the City of Marseille), the Institut de la Méditerranée is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The initial common desire was for Marseille and its region to become a stronghold of Euro-Mediterranean reflexion.
As a real instrument of analysis, expertise and installation of projects on the Euro-Mediterranean region, coordinator of FEMISE, a Euro-Mediterranean network of independent economic institutes, the Institut de la Méditerranée occupies a position in the forefront of Europe’s economic and territorial analysis in the Mediterranean. With the production of numerous reports, the Institute provides the material for reflection on Euro-Mediterranean cooperation. Its recognized expertise in development and territorial strategy expertise and macro-economic analysis it produces allow it to establish itself as an indispensable partner in Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.
